Polestar opens first Scottish ‘Space’ in Glasgow
Premium EV brand Polestar has opened its first retail space in Scotland.
The Polestar Space in Glasgow’s Silverburn Shopping Centre is the Swedish brand’s seventh UK location as it looks to expand its operations. An eighth Space is set to open in England later this year.
The permanent site replaces a temporary pop-up store in the same shopping centre and, says the brand, champions its direct-to-consumer, digital-sales-first approach to car retail.
Rather than being a traditional edge-of-town dealership, the Polestar Spaces are designed as a state-of-the-art ‘shop front’ for the brand, showcasing its cars in high-footfall areas like shopping centres.
The staff in the stores don’t work on commission but are on hand to explain the cars, options and buying process to customers. Customers can still take on-site test drives and explore the various options – from interior finishes to alloy wheels – in the Space before making a purchase online. They can choose whether to complete their order at the Space with the help of a product specialist or from home via the Polestar website.
The store’s opening comes just ahead of a major expansion for Polestar with both the Polestar 3 performance SUV and the Polestar 4 coupe-SUV due to go on sale in coming months.
Head of Polestar UK, Jonathan Goodman said: “We are delighted to be opening our first Space in Scotland in what will be a transformative year for our brand. The timing couldn’t be better with the updated Polestar 2 available to customers now and Polestar 3, our luxury SUV and Polestar 4 our SUV coupé arriving later this year.”
